Legacies of Freedom + Peace = A Balanced Life

This is a picture of some of my family - my great-grandmother (Big Mama) is in the rocking chair, holding my dad. His brother is sitting next to Big Mama and my grandmother is on the far right. I believe the far left is my great-great grandmother.

These women raised kids, worked their farm, and undoubtedly dealt with a whole lot of bullsh*it from society, men, culture, and in general while they navigated raising children and being women.

SO much of my life today is owed to them, and all I can think is about how I invest so much of my time, energy, and give-a-damn into stupid sh*t. All the time.

I'm so done. It doesn't honor me, them, or the legacy I want to leave my family with. Period.

You know what’s wild? I used to think I was so good at not giving a f*ck about the little things... but recently, I caught myself stressing over something ridiculous: making sure mold isn't growing in the grout of the bath tub. I do hate it, but I shouldn't be giving mold that much thought.

So I decided to do something about my mindset.... give ZERO f*cks!

Instead of bending over backwards for my own approval, or the pretend approval of others, I made a decision based on what mattered to me (spoiler alert: the world didn’t end).

The result? More peace, less stress, and a whole lot of mental space freed up. It felt good to let it go, clean it when I can, and move the f on to what really matters - my family, my son, my own well-being.

THAT'S the example I want to leave behind for my life. Not one of stress, but freedom and peace.
