Who’s on your team?

Why do we, as women, often feel like a failure when we ask for help?

Take my own experience, for instance. After my divorce, I found myself navigating a newfound independence with a young child in tow (read: under 2 years old). Suddenly, the support systems I'd always relied on were no longer there.

From childhood to college roommates to my first marriage, there had always been someone to lean on. But post-divorce, I had to learn the art of asking for help. It wasn't easy.

I had to rebuild my support network from scratch.

And it's not just me. Many of my clients, successful and driven in their own right, struggle with the same issue. They're accustomed to being the ones in charge, the ones who have it all together.

But admitting the need for help can feel like a personal failure. Yet, as I often remind them, growth rarely happens in isolation. It's through seeking outside perspectives and support that we can truly thrive. Whether it's in business or personal life, the willingness to ask for help is often the catalyst for transformative change.

So, how do we shift this mindset? One powerful strategy I advocate for is embracing the concept of building a support team.

Look at any highly successful individual, and you'll find a network of advisors, mentors, and collaborators behind them.

They understand that success isn't a solo journey. My advice? Don't wait until you're drowning to reach out for a lifeline. Investing in outside help can elevate you from merely surviving to truly thriving.

In essence, it's about recognizing that asking for help isn't a sign of weakness but rather a testament to our strength and commitment to growth.

Whether it's through seeking out mentors, joining mastermind groups, or hiring a coach, there's immense power in acknowledging our limitations and inviting others to support us on our journey.

Asking for help isn't a flaw; it's a strategic power move towards greater success and fulfillment.
